S/V Parity
In the Spring of 2014, we began our sailboat search. We weren’t searching for just any sailboat. We wanted a sailboat that we could safely live on and sail from Boston down to the Bahamas. After dumping out our piggy banks we set a budget around $10,000. It probably took 2 months of searching until we finally found her! Parity, a 1983 Ericson 30+ located in East Greenwich, Rhode Island listed for $14,000 on Craigslist. We did the standard in water and out of the water survey to make sure “the bones were good.” We decided the soft spots on the deck were small and the leaks weren’t anything we couldn’t keep up with. So, we made an offer and purchased her for $12,000.

“That clear mental picture you must have continually in mind, as the sailor has in mind the port toward which he is sailing the ship; you must keep your face toward it all the time.”
