November 1st, 2018.
As tradition goes we spent our first few nights on the boat in Hadley Harbor, Ma patiently waiting out a Nor’easter. (In case you don’t remember or never knew, we we’re held up here during a Nor’easter in 2014 as well and we’ve loved it ever since) Hadley Harbor is a hidden gem here in New England. It is located in Buzzards Bay and has an inner and outer harbor. Both are beautiful but of course the inner harbor offers more protection for us sailors.
During the summer months the inner harbor is packed but in late October (yes we are crazy) we were the only boat. The wind bounced us around a bit. Every once in a while a good gust would come through that would make Wes and I give each other that “Whoa, did you feel that” look. Wes pops his head out of the companion way to make sure we haven’t moved. I carry on with what I was doing or pick up anything that may have fallen. Aside from those brief moments of chaos it was a lot of cozy time in the cabin.
Once the weather cleared we decided on a short sail over to New Bedford, Ma so we could pick up some new house batteries for the boat. Moseying through the store bundled in foul weather gear one of the West Marine employees enquired about our attire. We got to chatting about boat life and before we knew it we were all piled in his truck headed to Walmart for provisions and then back to the marina before dark to install the new batteries! These are the moments I live for! Meeting new people, seeing new places, and feeling the goodness of the world😊 It’s one of those moments that reminds you how awesome our community is. Time to pay it forward.
